Our team of physicians is dedicated to helping others, and one of the ways in which we do this is by donating our time and expertise to young and old, here and abroad.  Recently, Dr. Karl Wenner, and his wife, Anne Wenner, participated in a health-care mission in Uganda at the rural Engeye Health Clinic.  “It was an amazing experience to help and interact with the local people, who remain resilient in the face of few resources,” said Mrs. Wenner.  “Karl did everything he could, from amputations to diagnosing beri-beri and malaria, while I typed patient notes and helped clinic staff.”  Since 2006, the non-profit Engeye Health Clinic has expanded its services and staff—it now has nine paid local staff with a visiting volunteer physician and pharmacist.

Our team of physicians is dedicated to helping others, and one of the ways in which we do this is by sharing our time and expertise with our community.  “I really enjoy teaching anatomy to young people,” says Dr. Casey.  Over the past 30 years, he’s volunteered time as an anatomy instructor at Oregon Tech and Basin high schools, coached soccer and served as a medical aide at local football games.

Our team of physicians is dedicated to helping others, and one of the ways in which we do this is by donating our time and expertise to athletes.  Dr. Kevin Heaton has found ways to do this while cheering on his own three active children.  “I really enjoy helping the players and coaches at the [Bill Collier] ice rink, where my boys play hockey and my daughter skates,” says Dr. Heaton.  “I also provide first aid and safety talks to Little League baseball players.”

Our team of physicians is dedicated to helping others, and one of the ways in which we do this is by donating our time and expertise to people who have no access to surgical care.  A few years ago, Dr. Karl Knudsen participated in Operation Rainbow in Nicaragua.  “We performed dozens of orthopedic surgeries on children and young adults resulting in life-altering functional changes,” explains Dr. Knudsen.  “Some of these patients had traveled for days on foot or by donkey to our make-shift hospital in a rural clinic.”  A nonprofit in its fourth decade, Operation Rainbow leads 6-9 humanitarian medical missions in the developing world each year.

Our team of physicians is dedicated to helping others, and one of the ways in which we do this is by donating our time and financial resources to faith-based organizations.  For decades, Dr. Ed VanTassel has been a leader in his church.  “I contribute to church projects including local community assistance programs and mission projects around the world including disaster relief,”explains Dr. Van Tassel,  “And I have previously held the position of school board chairman.”

Since moving to Klamath Falls four years ago, Dr. Conaughty has been involved in multiple community programs. He has participated in Rotary Club, he is a volunteer religious educator at St. Pius and Sacred Heart. He has also volunteered for community education seminars and served as a volunteer on multiple leadership committees at Sky Lakes Medical Center.
